Thanks for props, vegas. Shipping costs kill me, so a longer wait means cheaper postage.

Bryan, great idea! I WAS thinking about using a skateboard wheel or a 1.375" friction drive bearing. The XL pulley might work better, due to its dual flanges. :geek:

Use delrin inside the alum pulley along with the right grease and it should last for a long time. (or until the next design change ! :giggle:)

Delrin?

Next design change.:giggle:

Good read! LOL

The keyed shaft has been threaded perfectly for the clutch drum. My friend Glen is working to bore the steel pulley from 1/4" to 1/2", then machine for keyway. This will eliminate the pulley's "nose", but two collars will "sandwich" the modified pulley and provide stability.

Bad News

My friend drilled the 14-toothed pulley from 1/4" to 1/2". In doing so, the pulley's nose disintegrated and the side flanges fell off. No problem so far, since two adjoining collars would serve as "flanges".

HOWEVER, there was not enough "meat" in the bore to machine a keyway.

Maybe I can simply drill the steel pulley for two setscrews, right through the pulley's teeth!

I'll ask the machinist.

I Found A Motor Pulley On Ebay A Few Days Ago, For $8.99 + $2.59 Sh. Item # 330 343 034 508. I Put The Spaces Between The Item No`s For Ease Of Reading. Leave Spaces Out If You Look It Up.

The Pulley Is 1/2" Bore Aluminum, .200" Pitch Xl 15 Tooth, For 1/4 & 3/8" Belt Width. It Has 2 Set Screws And Is 1 Inch Diam. They Have About 32 Of Them In Stock.

I Don`t Know If That Will Work For You. I Wonder If It Would Work To Take A Dremel Tool And Take The Corners Off The Teeth For The Xlt Or What Ever The Nylon Rear Wheel Spoke Pulley Is. Ron

I`m Thinking You Could File The Key Down. And Not Have The Key Way Very Deep In The Pulley, In Your Application.

Hey Ron,

I bought that exact pulley. However, it is XL pitch, and I need an HTD-pitch pulley to match the drive ring and belt. The HTD belt does not grab the XL pulley correctly. I guess I could buy an XL belt to see if an XL pulley, an XL belt and an HTD drive ring would work.

I'm waiting to see if the machinist can drill my 14-toothed HTD pulley for setscrews. If that doesn't work, I have an HTD 15-toothed steel pulley to bore out and use setscrews.
