generator light voltage

Does anybody know what voltage a bicycle lighting generator produces? I assume it is A.C. I have an emergency exit flood that runs on 6 vdc that I want to use, but the thing doesn't work. My generator MAY not be putting out. The bulb in the light is the flat base variety that pushes in with 2 wires that contact on the side. I can solder up whatever is necessary to fit a standard bike bulb. I'm not sure if anybody even stocks them anymore.

This will help. Most were 6v a/c. Remember the little tire rubbing generators were NOT made to run at a high speed. They were designed for average bike speeds, not 30mph.
