Had no idea a motorized bike engine could destroy steel keys Lol

This past weekend I went on a ride and noticed my clutch started feeling a little loose. Turns out something went wrong on the sprocket side of the engine and the woodruff key decided to obliterate the sprocket and lead me to walk the bike home like 2 miles (good thing I’m in shape). Have you guys seen this before. I order a new sprocket, keys, and the silver thingy that goes where the clutch is.

Any bits of the key left over? Sloppy machining of the key way will make it rock back and forth until it disappears.
