I've read several threads today that mention items from Harbor Freight. Just a little heads up about them. If you're looking to purchase a major item, or anything actually, go to their web site, find your item listing, print it out and take it to the store with you. A lot of times their web site price is substantialy lower than the actual in store price. My local store always matches the web site price, no questions asked and no hassle what so ever. If this thread should have been posted in the Vendor Section, please don't slap my hand. I'm not qualified to post there yet. I'm not plugging Harbor Freight. I'm just trying to help others !

Starting a new thread isn't necessarily a big sin. This point would have been largely lost in a 5 page thread. Not everyone reads several pages on one subject.

not only will they match the online price, but they will let you use a 20% off coupon as well.

Today I bought an OBD2 scanner for my car.

The store was selling it for 59.99. Website had a sale for 39.99. I printed that out along with a 20% of coupon and total came out to $31.99 + tax.

That is almost 50% off the store price!

I think it must be entirely store manager dependent. The manager at the local HF store refuses to honor internet prices, and won't honor net coupons either. He also wants a 10% "handling fee" for internet orders drop-shipped to his store for pickup. When I heard that one, I e-mailed the marketing dept at corporate HQ.

They said he was allowed to do that.

My HF is awesome. Sometimes they have awesome coupons for items, like 50% off the regular price. If you bring them the coupon they will not let you also use a 20% off coupon.

TWICE though they were out of my item and gave me a rain check for the coupon price. When I went back they let me use the 20% off coupon with the rain check price.

I don't know for certain, but I think that might not be legal. Best Buy recently got in some hot water for not honoring their internet prices in the store.

y wouldnt it be legal. its there store. they make the rules about the prices and stuff

Yes, they make the rules. But some rules are illegal.

I don't know if it applies in this case, but "crafty" advertising and pricing schemes become fraudulent.

I just think it's bad business weather it's leagal or not. You would think that chain stores would have the same rules in all their locations. But did you guys know that Walmart will not match other Walmart stores nor their own web site prices ? K-Mart doesn't do price matching at all. If I don't like a vendors policies, I just go else where to spend my money. And here's another kicker ! I was shopping for a bicycle earlier today. Found one on Target's site, almost $90.00 for shipping. The same bike from Amazon.com, same price as Target and actually being bought from Target but throught Amazon.com, the shipping was only $30.00. $60.00 difference. Now tell me why is that ! Anyway, point being, shop around and do your home work. Ther are deals to be had out there !
