Has anyone converted a 4 stroke to run on LPG.

30 or so years ago propane conversion was a big business here. Pick ups were a prime candidate because the large tank could easily be put in the box. The GM 350 was a popular motor to run on propane.

Was a great deal because for a while, propane was really cheap, $0.15 a litre. The Gov at the time decided to introduce a fuel parity tax and made it close to the same price as gasoline. That ended that enterprise.

People here have their emergency generators plumbed into the house propane supply. That way they don't have to worry about the fuel going bad. Propane doesn't gum up the carb and lasts until the tank rusts out and leaks away which is a long time.
Funny story, we had a fishing caravan back in the early 90s from Edmonton to Grand Prairie. I was driving my old live axle 4x4 350, towing my boat. My buddy was driving his 4x4 350 on propane towing a travel trailer. We stopped in Fox Creek for fuel ⛽, I used 38L, he used 75L but his fill was only $15.

We just recently picked up a tri fuel predator generator. The biggest they have. During the summer we're gonna get it wired to where it will power the whole house through the breaker. It'll run on natural gas, propane, or gas.
Wire that Gen with a Transfer switch thru the breaker box, It bypasses city power supply

I'm sure you guys will wire to CODE (y) RIGHT!

I think the point of isolating the generator is so you're not feeding power into the grid.
There are some fancy transfer switches available that I believe have become a code requirement here if the generator is hooked to the house mains. A series of relays starts the generator, cuts the incoming feed from the pole and powers the panel. When the pole power is back on, the relays reverse the order and back to normal operation.

This is can be done manually with jumpers. Switch off the mains, positive to one side of the two poles of the main, the other to neutral. This will work for 120 volts but only one phase, half of the panel will be powered. For 240 output both phases, two 120 hot are connected. Generator ground to house ground.

Micky mouse but better than making a suicide cord, two male ends and plugging it to a receptacle powering up one side of the panel. Bad thing to do.

Personally I just use an extension cord with a spliter.

Solar inverters can run in parallel with the mains. I can't find it right now but the edison motors guys used a diesel genset topping off a home solar setup. Kept the engine at peak efficiency instead of a constant idle when loads are minimal.

Running 3 phase lines is really nice for ampacity and minimal voltage drop. Its not legal for residential but emt and 3 phase in the home would be sick.
