Hello everyone. Just joined yesterday. Northern Cali and am building a Schwinn Chopper with a Grubee Skyhawk. Started 2 years ago could never get it started and recently got interested in it again. Reading the threads have been very informative and I think I may know now what I have been doing wrong. One question is if my chain fits right without a tensioner do I still need to use one? Is there a way to adjust the clutch pressure? It seems really hard to pull the lever. thanks

Its way better if you can run without a tensioner. One less thing to break and a bit less noise.

My bike has vertical drop outs and so there is no way to move the wheel fore and aft to take up slack. Plus, like some other bikes, I can't clear the chainstay without lifting the chain up on the return path so I'm stuck using one.

There was a kink in the clutch line. It's usually something simple. Pics would help too.
