    Here are my latest helmets.
...I like the vintage look and these match my bikes. What do you think? What does yours look like?

Mine is a plain white motorcycle cops "half helmet" style, but I'm thinking about replacing it.

Years ago, when I started drag racing for a while, I had to buy a helmet. Bought a full face because I thought I might do a motorcycle again someday.
I always think how much better a full is in the case of a face-plant.
When you get older, you think of pain avoidance more often. They are hot though.
Come summer, I am thinking about one of those motocross fulls.

The heat is what is keeping me from a fullface helmet....On the street it has reached over 120 here...(used a thermal gun from work....the temp directly on the pavement was 135) The motocross full I may need to check out.

i use a generic DOT shorty with a "drag specialties" shield, kevin scored big-time on a "zox bino" for $35 shipped:

right, and i had to put some thought into that, myself. i'd used 2 sets of goggles before i decided to try a shield full time. my half-shield is permanent, so i figured: clear shield at night, sunglasses underneath during the day. but the clear shield doesn't leave much clearance at the corners, & my dark goggles wouldn't fit, shoot!

    then i found these wrap-arounds and now i'm a happy bubba :cool2:

I always preferred a full face helmet ever since the day I did a power slide on my dirt bike and hit the curb with my face. I just picked up this Bell Zephr on clearance for $39 at Iron Pony.

Nice googles Stan4d, do you really wear them? I wanna see a pic of that

Yes I do. They are a bit uncomfortable with the helmets pictured, ride kinda low on the nose, but no visibility problem. I will try to get a pic and post it.

Does nobody find this way of travel embarrasing at all? and safety must be an issue too traveling at speed on such a fragile frame.

clearly, noone here does...personally, i find "this way of travel" exhilarating to say the least :D

of course safety's an issue, hence this "Safety First!" area ;)

Ethan...if you're having a look-see because of a need for more sensible transportation, but aren't much of a DIY'er, mayhaps a retail scooter, moped, or motorcycle would better suit your needs :cool2:

    on old helmet:
