Hello all,

Please help me ID the engine in my bike. I was told it was a 49cc engine, but it looks just like the 66cc engines my friends just bought, and I am faster than them (acceleration and top speed (46 KPH/29 MPH).

Background:
This is my first post, and will not be the last! I was given a motorized bike because the last two coworkers could not figure out how to make it run. $12 (fuel line/filter misc nuts and bolts), and 45 minutes later I had her running. The current frame is a late 90's Specialized Hardrock (CoMo, heavy), but I have ordered a GTA (150mm) frame and HD wheel from bicycle-engines.com to perform an "engine swap", complete with disc brakes (203/180mm). I am going with an American-to-English bottom bracket adapter to run a 3 piece crank since I have access to a number of junk/abandoned bikes (military base, people leave and just leave their bikes). I have read most of the dragonfly75.com pages, along with many post here and can't wait to see how far I can push my bike while pretending to be within my budget. LOL.

Ian

the size of the acorn nuts on the head would be right for some kind of 66cc motor

Crassius,

Thanks for your help. I was thinking it was a 66cc motor since it would out pace my friends with 66cc motors, and that the exhaust muffler was what comes stock on many 66cc kits. Now I know where to start whenever I decide to build more power.
