help with pilot jet

all of a sudden my bike stopped idling, so I remove the pilot jet and blew it out, now it runs to rich, the little O ring fell out and I put it back in, but maybe it's in the wrong place, how far up on the shaft does it go?

Yeah, the pilot has everything to do with idle, especially on all these small carbs.
Junk plugging it will kill it. The pilot is fixed on some of these carbs so I wonder if you have the right jet?
There is no "O" ring on the carbs I have with removable pilots, so again I wonder.

The advice is "Yeah, stuff has to be clean and parts have to be assembled right."
That advice will have to do unless you can provide more details or pictures.

found the problem, the O ring goes in the groove at the bottom, runs ok now
