Hey guys!
My names Nick. I have been building China girls for years, then I had a few kids. I was on this Netflix show, outlast season 1 a few years back and had a few extra dollars and I wanted to build a totally badass bike for my son. Anyhow, I’ve built a felt faker with a phantom 85, and I’m having a hell of a time getting it to run.
I know this bad boy is supposed to use all stock parts until break in; but I can’t even get her to start
I’ve had issues getting fuel into the cylinder, as well as a maybe weak spark condition. I ran the #s on the magneto coil, and I’m getting readings all over. Replaced the magneto with a 12v stythus, and the stock CDI with a spare BBI stage 1 (JUST to get it to start; not to keep on there once she is going.
I have compression, but I don’t smell fuel on the plug. I drained the tank, took off the in line fuel filter just to get a flow. Still nothing.
I know this is very vague right now; but I have run every test for fuel spark and air to get it running I can think of.
Sometimes it “pops” but it will not catch and idle. Stock adjustments have been kept on the Bofeng carb. I’ve taken the carb apart more times than I like to admit.
Checked and rechecked the wiring off the CDI. Grounds are totally clean.
I’ve grounded the plug on the cylinder head and can see what looks like a very weak spark. But even that should ignite ? Shouldn’t it?
Note: when the magneto cover was removed upon inspection, the spinning magnet was making contact with the coil. I’m wondering if that depolarized the magnet?
There are no leaks coming from the base gasket or exhaust. It just doesn’t seem like fuel is getting into the cylinder. I have searched every issue and lurked in this place for weeks before finally deciding to say something to yall
Anyway. Not expecting anyone to fix this entire thing, but any threads that I might have missed concerning a phantom 85 no-start I might have missed would be cool. I’m GOING to get this thing running. I just might have to totally rebuild her from the ground up.
Thanks!
