Honda's new Solid State Battery Factory quickly becoming a reality.

Things will get better regarding battery tech over time. I think we have it pretty good right now. If you have a UL approved battery, 20ah batt you can go a good distance just on throttle alone. Carry a spare battery and you're in for a good 100mi ride. Back when I had my Ebike a spare batt was $1300. I wasn't going to spend that on a batt so I sold it. Batt was proprietary so no choice. 1 batt wasn't enough of a ride to make me happy. Now though spare batts are $5/600, that seems more reasonable, and I'd do that for the next one. As far as flats go, I'm a firm believer in thick tubes, tire liners and Kevlar lined tires. All Kevlar lined tires are not created equal. Read the reviews on Schwalbe Marathon kevlar lined tires. Many posts with 1000's of miles with no flats using Ebikes. Lots of the spandex crowd writing those reviews.

Yeah I use the Schwabe tires with liners and thick tubes though I have had some flats with machine screws that get picked up. One flat occurred 9 miles from home! Also on my new Krate while the front tire is solid, the back one can go flat. That means a walk home with a disabled ebike. Since I intend to ride it a one way trip 12.5 miles and 12.5 miles back the chances for a flat increase substantially.
