How do I clean up aluminium?

  1. Hi all.

    I have to make a custom bracket to mount my fuel tank and will be using a length of aluminium to do it.

    I have some thats been in the shed for a while but it is quite crusty and needs a good clean up.

    Anyone know the best way to bring it back to like new without scratching it up?

    It depends on how pitted it is. If it's pitted, use a 3M green scrubby pad and some aluminum polish.

    If it's not pitted, use the aluminum polish.

  4. Worked well.

    It was pitted and I used the green scourer and some liquid Silvo.

    I scrubbed 'with the grain' and it looks fine.
