how do i remove air filter on dellorto?

I removed the plastic air filter cover on my sha 16.16 to try and figure out where to run and attach the throttle cable. i can't get the filter out. i figure its supposed to unscrew but i can't get a good enough grip on the housing with a wrench to turn it. is there something i'm missing?

or maybe it's the choke i'm trying to install but anyway i'm trying to get this filter off

nevermind. i just put a flathead screwdriver in next to the metal flap and pulled it straight out. i'm learning
