I got mine dad a engine kit about 4 year ago or more. How will I tell if it a WC-1 or NE engine?

Hello and welcome.
I am posting 2 pictures. The first is a WC-1
Notice the long stud that goes all the way from the head to the case. The second is an NE5. It does not use that long stud. This is a very easy way to tell them apart but by no means the only way. Unless the engine kit you got was new old stock 2004 or earlier, it should be an NE5.

I just look at his. He don't have the stud to case but he don't have the head for NE5. The head on the side of case cover through bolt one bolt.

The bike is hanging so the left side is fuzzy.
