How to make a muffler for a weedeater motor

I am using a weedeater 2 cycle motor on my bike, but it is extremely loud and I need to quiet it down somehow. I tried putting some fiberglass in the existing muffler and it helped a little but not much.

The motor has springs which hold the muffler on. There are no studs or holes to bolt to. The opening is 7/8" (22mm).

How can I quiet this thing down?

interesting MB you have there -- nice

for the muffler I am thinking maybe --
a thin shaped the same as your muffler (plate made)
there would be spacers so as to hold the plate aprox 1/4 " from muffler
is there anywhere to connect a plate such as this to your muffler

thus the engine sound while leaving muffler
will hit the thin plate -- should stop some of the big blast..

Interesting concept, I'm gonna have to read your build thread.

I know this is not what you want to hear and you've probably already considered it but that seems like the perfect place for a quiet 25cc robin or honda 4-stroker.

I've worked out a few cheap 2 stroke muffler ideas that work okay, I'll post later today when I have more time.

I tried to stuff the muffler with fiberglass cloth but it didn't run very good and it smoked a lot. I tried a lot of fiberglass, I tried a little fiberglass. I didn't like the way it ran. With a lot of fiberglass it wouldn't even start.

The motor runs pretty good without the muffler!
