I don't get why they don't make a 4 stroke with a similar design to the 2 stroke Chinese kits?

That mounts the same, and has a small manual clutch? I mean it wouldn't take that much bigger of a case to house a cam, pushrods and valves.

Just seems like it would be a lot easier/more desirable if someone did.

I completely agree, but the main reason I suspect is there isn't a design out there that the Chinese can coppy lol

A whole 3.38 ounces???...lol...lol.
The bigger the engine the more oil that's needed. By the time you start adding in the other components of a 4 stroke engine you've taken up a lot of space compared to the same size cc 2 stroke. With the oil it isn't so much about the weight as it is about the space it consumes to contain it.

I still don't see the issue. The oil sump wouldn't need to be much bigger than the crankcase of a 2 stroke. Just enough to hold a few ounces of oil.

If some brilliant Chinese manufacturer ever figures out there's a market for it, we'll see it eventually, unless ICEs are completely illegal before then.

Ridiculous if that comes to pass. Everyone knows an alcohol fuel ICE can burn clean, and makes the equation much simpler than conversion to electric.

Until EVs have capacitors instead of batteries and nearly instant charging, it will never have the capability of an ICE.

I think it would be cool to set one up with an oil sump and pum with cams like an old harley flat head. One cam for intake, one for exaust. It ould be able to mount the cams on the side of the case and have a smaller overall crank case, and would look cool with pushrod tubes on the side of the engine.

If you have 655 dollars, plus a gx50 to send to Ryan Darragh, and you can get 999 other people to do the exact same it can be a reality.

Now that you mention it, you don't even need much oil in the crank case. You do need, an oil pump and a remote reservoir though.

There are straight shaft huasheng 142f engines. Not very common but they do exist. Combine that with a 3/4 jackshaft and a 3d motorsports clutch.

4:1 reduction from the engine to the jackshaft. On that jackshaft is the clutch. Add in 4:1 reduction from the clutch sprocket to the wheel. Manual 4 stroke, in the frame. Could remove the pull cord and bump start it.

Cannonball built this. That's a 125cc semi auto engine. About 7 or 8 hp.
