So, I'm an old fart. I have a little mechanical ability but not alot. I've had a few motored bikes over the years ( worksman newsboy w Staton friction drive), EZ3 trike with stock electric motor on their old school setup in the early 2000's, a weird old front wheel friction drive, used a single 12 volt battery and I put it on a trike similar to a worksman with a nice box on back but completely under powered, i bought a Staton chain drive setup to put on another longbodied trike but the axles and wheels were not original so couldn't find correct parts and there she sits.
Today I came across a "project" motored bike. It's a worksman heavy duty trike with a staton,Inc gearbox w Honda motor hung off the back end. The motor runs fine but the gears or transmission or clutch doesn't engage and doesn't move forward and there I'd a little bit of chain grappling noise coming off the drive train. When I put my hand on it the most vibration is coming from the Honda motor . Would anyone possibly have an idea of what could be preventing the bike from moving forward?

Welcome to the forum!!

Pictures please? That would help us help you, a lot.

Not sure on your exact setup without pics, but things to look for in general could be bad friction clutch, chain that's come off sprockets, or sheared gears.

@Sidewinder Jerry might be of help, he knows those Staton gear boxes. Don't worry his bite is harmless, he'll be slithering along before you know it. Welcome to the forum.

Inside the Station gearbox there are gears, bearings, and grease. Very simple and robust. Be sure to look at the output shaft to see if it's turning, may be the key in the drive sprocket is missing. If that's not the case it is likely the centrifugal clutch. Remove engine and have a look.

It's a 99% chance there's a clutch issue. Those gearboxes are practically indestructible.
