So, i built a Gemini moly frame Tweaker a while ago with a stock pk80 kit i purchased in 2016 and left in the shed in the box...
After assembly and a lot of fine tuning, i had carby troubles, i sorted them and ran it in. I gutted the pipe along the way and fitted some drop bars and a springy drop back seat arrangement.
I was desperate for forks, and messed up ordering forks, about 3 or 4 times.
I eventually ended up with some genuine monarks (can not recommend, unless you have to have for a 1" steerer tube, but seriously even then) and fitted those. I rode it for about 10 seconds and thought it was ho-hum, and that was after i sorted them. I had to add spacers, washers and a special washer with a stepped shoulder.
Then with the brakes on, rolling down the driveway, the front wheel spat out, and i hit the deck at about walking pace, or slower.
I bent the forks and we made some much beefier modifications to the unit.
Aaaanyway, thats all done. And we have the original rigid forks.
now- in my shopping addiction rash spending spree, i had purchased pipes, reed kits, carbies and more.
after i fitted the new handbuilt rear wheel with specially adjusted axle, 12g spokes and china built hub i was ready to go. Except...
EXCEPT... EXCEPT; the piston hole on my new winnowed piston for the reed kit and baby powerpipe was too low.
The piston kept hitting the top of the head, and i only had 2 head gaskets and no more base gaskets.
I went to deck the piston at a mate's place on the lathe, but with a 3.5mm rise out of the barrel, we weren't super confident there would be any meat left on the piston after modifications...
So- i took the old piston, and we eyeballed some markings, used the drill press and the mill vise and made 4 holes...
Then i took it home and cleaned it up with the Aliexpress dremel tool and ta-da!
Put it in (that simple, done in seconda- he lied)
and it rides nice. No powerhouse, but it goes.
