i need help with my spark plug CDI cap and spark plug

is this how the inside of the cdi cap is supposed to look like?
if not, where should that gold piece go?

yes, thats right just make sure you take the gold tip off the top of your sparkplug so you get the proper connection.
You might want to replace that stock lead wire with a better one.( Al sell them)

The best cap I have found is a Ngk, I get them at the local m /c dealer for around 2$ each.

the connection on that type of cap is ok. I bought a perf. wire and cap it works alot better

The stock caps only last 300 to 400 miles on my bikes, I used both that came with my first kit then got the Ngk from the m / c shop. I now keep a spare cap in my tool pouch, my son in -law needed one last weekend while we were riding. What happens on most is the brass insert get loose due to heat and vibration.
