I'm looking for a 26" wheel with a 3 speed internally geared hub, for $100 or less. Is that just lunacy on my part? Perhaps a used wheel?
Just was thinking if I ever built a jackshaft/geared bike that this would be the way to go.
Seems a waste using multispeed bikes to motorize, cuz I find I set the gearing to right where it has to be to "pedal assist" the engine on steep hills or hills you can't get a head start on, and just leave it there.
The only reason I've used multispeeds is they're easier to get and I don't want anything to do with a coaster brake on a motorized bike.
Especially my 49cc is a waste, it has those weird oval sprockets, but it was a REALLY nice riding bike before the engine. I mean it rides fine now, but those nice riding gears and sprockets are going to waste now.
My only pedal bike is geared TERRIBLY and is not fun to ride...
