Gasket Making 101

Here’s another good tip. These work like zip ties and reusable. Velcro stripes I bought two rolls of them. There really easy to store on bike just remove seat post slide on put seat post back.

Brake cables. Why buy one at a time? Buy in bulk and save $ Find everything on line.
Have a new brake cable ready at a moments notice.

$10 for 10 barrel end brake cables, 6' long. They cost $4 each or more at a bike shop
$15 for a 50' roll of cable housing. A bike shop sells it for $1 per foot
$5 for a 100 piece box of cable housing metal ends with cable caps.
Buy it all from Amazon and free shipping cause it's over $25

TIP
Use lineman side cutters to cut cable housing
Use a scratch awe to straighten out cable housing end
Oil cable before putting in cable housing and lightly wipe with a rag.
Put a few drops of oil in cable housing and let it gravity drain in.

The cable housing metal ends just slip on, But I prefer to crimp them on. The special crimping tool is very expensive. I made my own crimping tool out of an old pair of wire strippers. If anyone wants to make their own special crimping tool I'll show you how.

TIP
How to make a special cable housing metal end crimping tool from an old pair if wire strippers
Pictures will explain everything
