Interesting new YouTube video i just seen

I watched 90%.
What he says in the beginning is fairly accurate about tuning a slide carb. It can be challenging to get it right with all the different adjustments but the purpose of all those adjustments is..to get it right.

I had no luck with achieving the tune I wanted with a pulse type carb like his.
He points out the fact that you can’t tune mid range on his pulse carb but he’s not interested in the mid. He’s a WOT rider. šŸ™‚

I have the same kit as his and my engine runs very well on a vm20 carb. It idles wicked low, revs way fast..probably faster than his, and has no throttle hesitation thru the entire range.
Timing has a lot to do with quick rev.

It did take a good bit of fiddling at first to learn the range of jets and needle positions needed but I can now get close on any other engine like mine on the first shot leaving a small amount of fine tuning.

To each his own but I prefer a slide carb any day. The biggest negative of my carb is cost. It did cost $100+ and genuine Mikuni jets aren’t cheap.

How many old briggs and china dolls do you currently have waiting to be put on bikes/gocarts?
I have 6 or 7 Briggs flatheads, 3 predator engines of the 212 and 224 variety, 1 459 predator, my BT80, my phantom and my dad's phantom (both have designated bikes), and a 79cc predator. I might have more that I'm not remembering. I just am getting an avenger because I'm getting a great deal on it and want to compare it to the phantom, and eventually compare the both to a home done MS build. The Briggs engines likely won't ever be in any bikes, I just like to collect them, and I've been literally given so many predator engines I'm drowning in them.
