Oh dear lord. Why would anyone do that??? That is by far the most idiotic thing I've seen in the motorized bike scene, no offense to the op. You never want to trap heat on the cylinder...it has those cooling fins for a reason. Surprised you didn't cook your engine...
No need to be rude, obviously the guy is learning... Yes indeed dont wrap the cylinder. These air-cooled engines need to be moving in order to cool down. That is the reason for the fins, they help dissipate all that heat.
I knew the engines are air cooled. I just had bought the bike with a blown exhaust gasket and it was leaking oil everywhere on my leg so i had tons of heat wrap and wrapped it and noticed it never broke. I drove it for hrs and miles wrapped. Then i got the thick exhaust gasket and fixed the leak but i missed the wrap so wrapped it again. About a week ago i got tired of the wrap and decided to remove it to make the engine last longer. Hope i didnt lose alot of compression. Runs great you would never know
