Hi all so I ended up heading into the home workshop super early to do a tidy up etc and noticed my spark plug cap doesn't fit and I had to unscrew the top cap or the spark plug to get it to Clip on. Is this normal.

It is with those junk caps... I would get a spark plug wire and boot from an automotive store...

My very first motorbike had a crap plug cable. I went to the auto store and got a coil wire, cut it, and screwed it into the CDI. The spark plug cable "screws" onto a screw inside the CDI. Seriously.

Old school plug wires never had the large plug hole, the real old school didn't even have a boot.

Yeah, some caps use the little screw-in part of the sparkplug, and some use the bigger outer connection. Completely normal.

Most modern plugs have a non removable cap on the end. Just go to an auto parts store and buy a solid core (wire) spark plug cable that will fit, cut it to length and replace the plug wire you are now dealing with.

8mm is the fattest that will screw into the CDI box... 7mm is the one... Get a packet of dielectric grease... A salvage yard would give you one

TIP- keep a few spark plug wires if you ever change them on your car. Like gold now because they're becoming history.
