Jackshaft jackshaft ignorant

alot of folks have been saying i need to use a jackshaft for my bikes and i have no knowlege of what the heck a jackshaft is i thinking its like a couple of sprockets spaced out to allow me to use a bigger tire anybody got any photos and how do you mount them on a bicycke are they bolt on welded any knowlege on this subject is welcomed larry ca

this bike has what recumbent guys refer to as a jack shaft

i think it is just an extra sprocket and an extra bottom bracket. don't know if this helps .
i think it's fixed.

A jackshaft can transfer the power from one side to the other, example, your motor's drive cog is on the left, connect this via chain to the jackshaft which runs to the other side of the bike and your right side chain. Can also be used to move the chain out to clear a wide rear tyre.
