Hello, I recently encountered a big problem with my 80cc 2-stroke install. I require the "universal U mount" for the engine to fit on my bicycle. When I was putting the mounting plate for the U mount on to the engine one of the bolts snapped off flat in the engine! I double checked and I was using the correct bolt. The bolt was only half way in when it snapped so I'm pretty sure I didn't over torque the bolt. I talked with the company and they likely won't send me a replacement (it was a long shot but I had to ask just in case). The only solution I can think of is to use a combination of loctite on the bolt that still works and using JB cold weld on the side that has the broken bolt. Is there any chance at all that this will sufficiently hold the engine if I don't ride it too hard?

no chance at all - get the broken piece out, or make an alternate mount - there are hundreds of threads here on ways to do that

I can usually get them out, but failing that, I like the angle iron alternatives

Crassius is right, you gotta have two good exhaust studs to hold the exhaust flange to the manifold.

Don't panic and do as he suggests : search this forum as there are many ways to remove it without damage.

the bolt snapped off in the engine mount but wasn't bottomed out? So I take it the bolt will turn easily by hand?

Every bolt that ive broken in my automotive career that wasn't a bolt breaking from bottoming out was able to use a dentist pick or a reverse drill bit to spin the broken bolt out. If you can do this and get the bolt out I would take the bolt to a hardware store and buy the proper thread in all thread and run it up bottomed out in the engine then use a washer, lock washer, and nut combination to tighten the clamp together around your tube.

That's how I am going to be mounting mine is the use of all thread bottomed out in the case with a stainless steel flat washer, stainless steel lock washer, and a stainless steel cap nut for a finished look.

Now if you cant get it out, only option you have if you are capable you can try to drill a small hole in the center and use a ez out to remove it which ive never had luck with them before. Other than that would have to center it and drill it out to a larger size and helicoil the fitting which would be stronger than the most likely aluminum threads that are on the mount.
