Greetings- my introduction to this was similar to yours. I found a good quality beach cruiser for $40- but being in Southern California probably helped.
And, yes, these bikes are a hoot!

I really like the beach cruiser look. Might try and swap one or two of my bikes for one. My gal kind or rolls her eyes and shakes her head when I mention adding another bike to my stable
