Kent Alameda, Staton 18.75 gearbox, GX35 clone.

OMG, you trying to kill Mudflap? That thing is just plain dangerous on ice and snow. What did he do to warrant such earthly advice? 3 Hail Mary's D, for you have sinned.
How would I know???...lol...I just though it was kinda neat to be able to make a Hoverboard into something fairly useful.

He's only gonna use something like that to just get to the mailbox and back, it's not like he wants to cruise the Pacific Coast Highway on the darn thing...lol.

I'm going to need a 6' throttle cable with the standard barrel for the twist grip and the other end to fit the diaphragm carb on GX35 clone. Any suggestions on where to get one? I can make one from a tandem bike shift cable but I'm lazy.

I got my 6' cable and all metal twist throttle except for the grip from Staton Inc many years ago. I see he no longer has the twist throttle.

I chose the Kent Alameda 26" single speed aluminum folding adult trike from Walmart because of the $200 price and rear drive design. The rear axle unit is part of the frame rather than a bolt together double chain design used by the Schwinn Meridian and other models. The rear axle has room to add a second freewheel and adaptor where the 7 speed version does not. The freewheel adaptor is right hand thread 15 mm OD with a 6 mm keyway from Staton along with a 22 tooth freewheel.

I used a Staton 18.75/1 reduction gearbox and a 14 tooth drive sprocket with a 38cc Chinese clone of a Honda GX35 engine attached. 35cc is the maximum engine size that is legal to use on a non plated trike in my state.

For the front mount I used a pair of standard 7/8" motorcycle handlebar risers which fit the 7/8" OD seat stays. $7.95 for a pair on ebay. For the rear I used a pair of windshield mounts made for 1" Harley Davidson handlebars. Had these already from another project but 1" handlebar risers or mirror mounts would work even better. Very light weight but secure mounting and easy to do. Chain adjustment is made by raising or lowering the rear of the gearbox with 4 pieces of 1/4 -20 threaded rod.

I made up my own >6' throttle cable from bulk kit from eBay. $11.95. Twist grip throttle/kill switch was left over from another project but sells for about $10 on eBay.

The bike is essentially finished except for cutting down the length of a few bolts and brackets. Haven't yet tested the speed but will do so in the next few days. Pictures coming later today.
