I'm looking forward to seeing how you set up for maintaining good chain tension with the rear suspension.

Does an engine mounted chain tensioner suffice on a bike like this?

As this is my first I do not have the answers to any tech stuff right now . Patiently waiting for the ups guy.( but really feel like a kid on christmas morning) I have prepped my Avalon for the build by doing the following .

1. Took wheels offand tightened the spokes .
2. Lubed and tightened all nuts bolts bearings etc.
3. Let air out of tubes a d refilled to proper psi which is forty on this bike .
4. Twindle my thumbs and daydream about the sweet sound of a 2 stroke winding up.

I think ups arrives in the afternoon. Ill defo post my whole experience about this build . I want to document all this because I searched and research gasbikes for 2 months and thought i could help out the next guy out with some information.

That frame looks like a really tight fit, but if you can make it work you might want to consider a SBP shifter kit. You won't have to worry about the chain tension issue, but you will need to eventually upgrade the derailluer or switch to a internal hub. Oh and it will climb hills and haul ass.

I for sure plan on sinking cash into this hobby . you are correct its a tight fit but i have seen a few builds on this bike on youtube . i already have an extra long u bolt for the 2.5inch bottom tube . If this dang UPS guy would get here already i cant wait . From what i have seen from buolds on this frame i am going to have to either offset the carb or grind down some of the plastic cover for the air filter . Right now i am gonna take some prep photos and figure how to post them to pass some time before my mail order china bride gets here

I would recommend replacing the head acorn nuts from the kit with quality nuts from the hardware store. Until then, make sure you don't let them bottom out on the studs when you tighten them. You should have your head nuts tightened to about 15 foot pounds.
