Wonderful Event
Pam and I got back early this morning, constuction included 7hrs 15 min. I cannot begin to describe how gracious Bonnie and Jay were to us. Terrific folks. We left a home with one dog, one cat, two guinea pigs and 6 gold fish and landed in a home with one dog, three cats, a bird and two turtles. We had no idea we were going to the middle of Amish country what a added bonus. The event has to be a annual ride so count us in the tally. Hope a third party conversation is ok.
From Pam: I am not a motorized bicycle addict, but going to this rally was important to Ray, so I figured I go along for the ride knowing that it would also make for some good stories with other friends as I could officially describe myself as a "biker chick." I really didn't know what to expect. I wasn't surprised to see a bunch of men (which we affectionally referred to as "biker geeks" by the end of the day) talking animatedly about their bikes, their bike challenges, and throwing words around like torque, kits, belts, speedometers, and throwing around lots of numbers that were completely meaningless to me. What was meaningful was seeing the tremendous enthusiasm and joy in each person's face as they shared their war stories of ripping up the road on their bicycles.
What did surprise me, was how warm and friendly every person was, and how everyone seemed to talk like old friends even though most of us had only known each other for a few hours! This was my first rally, but it certainly won't be my last, as althoug I'm not a motorized bicyle addict, I have become something of a motorized bicycle rally addict. Thanks to everyone for making such an enjoyable time. Every single person made a meaningful contribution to the event. Thanks especially to Bonnie and Jay for their wonderful hospitality and friendship! Thanks also to Mathew, who graciously corrected my numerous stalls.
Hope to see everyone next year!
