LF's Trike powered by Titan Front Wheel Drive!

Hey guys! I've been away due to politics. I'm running for President but there's this whole loophole Born in the Philippines thing I'm trying to work out.

Anyway, saved up for Duane's new Chrome assembly. Looking good! Some noticeable improvements like extra holes on the carriage plate so moving the engine to fit any application is easily doable.
So that's going on Cronus for that's still my main ride but for grocery hauling/doggie carrying and hauling my trike fits the bill.
So I put my old carrier on my trike. It ain't done yet. Still little stuff yet to do. Then I gotta get Cronus going as well.
Till I can get up some more funds for now my Titan engine will be shared by both bikes.
Here's some pics.
Notice my torque strap. It stays put. At first I had it on the side but looking at it further I made it go more center. And look at how my engine sits!
I can't wait to ride this thing!
40 tooth sprocket from donor BMX bike. Bolted to the drum not the spokes.
I tell you, this trike is built pretty well.
Down the road I'll get some NoMoreFlat tubes on there. I know they work well on 20 inch tires.
The carriage holders needed a slight hole enlargement then it slid right up to the front axle. This is why I want to go with the solid tube up front. No having to change that front tire having to remove the carriage.

LF,

I wonder if your front forks are wide enough to fit something like an Archer three speed hub into. With the jack shaft, you should be able to obtain a proper gear ratio to function with the hub, giving you a three speed transmission.

Just letting my mind ramble a little this morning.

Oh it's not even as wide as the hub on there now! I've actually been on the hunt for just such a wheel. They used to be in abundance back in the day. Now it's quite rare to see one on a 20 inch rim.
I do have a possible hit but he said if he has one it's gonna run me 35 bucks with shifter.
Dawg,that's a STEAL of a deal.
It's essentially a bicycle junk yard this dude is running. It's deep in the hood so I'm gonna ride my truck up hopefully on Friday or even Thursday.
Hopefully he'll have one less coaster but I would be absolutely dreaming for most of the 20 inch rims had coasters. But the coaster won't bother it at all.

I went shopping today at the Wal marts.

I love my trike.

In search of a 3 speed 20 inch wheel,I actually have a good working 3 speed hub with coaster collecting dust in my garage. Years ago something told me to hold on to that. Glad I did because last week I went to a real live bonified bicycle salvage yard on Morrison road in Denver and found just ONE 3 speed 20 inch wheel. And the hub was damaged and the wheel wasn't true at all.
So I went here:

Bicycle Repair - Building Bicycle Wheels

And pulled my coaster brake wheel from thrift store bike and proceeded to lacing her up.

I gotta thank whoever did that tutorial for without them I would be lost.

So now all I need is a 20 tooth wheel sprocket( The one on the hub is an 18) a 20 tooth jack shaft sprocket, and a 3 speed shifter. E Bay has an old schwinn style frame shifter MMMMmmmmmm..

Gears very very SOON!!! :)

What ya think of my wheel truing stand?

I used my screwdriver against the fork to gauge where my rim was warped. I imagine you can get fancy and drill some screw holes on both ends of the fork and have bolts to snug up to the rim and it would be just as good as the most expensive truing stand out there!

nice work Large!!

I use zipties around each forkblade, with the excess end pointed toward the rim....trim to desired length.

Zip ties. BRILLIANT!!!!!

You know, lacing and truing a wheel really isn't that hard as long as the rim is straight to begin with.

First mishap on the Buggy Bike. Pedal chain decided to fail while traveling along at a steady pace.
I only have coaster brakes.

IT WAS FUN!!!!

So I have all this #40 chain laying around.

The decision was obvious.

Yes. It's smooth. And it's insurance.

But I need a front brake.

Look at the condition of that pedal chain.

I risked my life on that puppy.
