Lifan on Rear Rack (new rack-no weld)

4950cycle,
I ended up selling the Lifan & have been building front drive MB's with 2 stroke Pocketbike engines (stage 2). I got two of them now & have been very satisfied with their power to weight ratio & reliability. Also they are technically legal here in my State being 50cc's or less. Horsepower is higher than the 98cc lifan & top speed a bit more. Acceleration about the same, but much louder.

To bad two strokes can be so loud. I love the front builds (yours) with hypo 2 strokes though. I bet they are so much more nimble and safer with the lighter powerplant up front. Cool looking chambers too. How much noise improvement does that Briggs little sausage muffler good for ?

4950cycle,
Yeah the 6-7 lb engine makes the bike handle better & is so much lighter. The pipe with the sausage muffler is the louder of the 2 pipes & that muffler didnt do much of anything to quiet it down. The other pipe on 'The Beast' is actually fairly quiet & I may just go and buy another one. I did an experiment today & removed the flex pipe between the engine & pipe & replaced it with a cut piece of handlebar. The inside diameter of the handlebar is almost half that of the flex pipe & after taking it for a spin, I'll be putting the flex pipe back on. The power got cut dramatically at higher rpm's probably due to the hole size (less expansion chamber effect)...

new Pics (added cross support to rear rack)

Here are a couple of new pics showing some additional bracing done to the rear rack & using the disc brake tab as a support mounting point. Hooked up the speedometer today. She runs mid 20's barely above idle.

I'm looking for a spring that holds that... belt tensioner or idler pulley or both? & I don't see one. Can I not see it because it's hidden by the rack or is it a fixed/bolted down pulley? Skateboard wheel right?
