Looks like it's time for a Minarelli cylinder...

The first day I get my new build running, circlip pops out and destroys my top end. :) Maybe it's a sign to get a minarelli cylinder. I know Steve Best has one, does anyone know what cylinder I should get and what else I would need to make it work? I'd prefer the 70cc over the 50cc, but I don't know if I would have to cut into the case for the 70cc or not.. I would also need a new exhaust.

You would need to open the case bore, relocate the stud holes and make an adaptor plate to get the stroke/timming right. Also matching the transfers up as pictured here.

Would I have to match the transfers with the 50cc cylinder?

The stock circlips from china are crap, and seem to be getting worse with many recent failures. I will only use them on bone stock builds now, nothing with any performance, and you still have to be careful installing.

They must be installed properly in 12-6 o'clock position so they don't get squished and pop out at high RPMs(factory doesn't do this, they just toss them in any direction), and if you bend them too much when installing they are trash since they are cheap metal that doesn't spring back to shape very well which causes them to rotate and pop out. The very sharp radius turn is the weak point(most break right at that bend if you check pics), and they are also sensitive to heat so running lean will kill them quicker. I have had one break on me randomly but have had two break in total - the other was operator error since it was on a customers bike who decided to run with a blown exhaust gasket for a few days and it went crazy lean which burned up the piston - totally his fault.

Treatland sells great quality circlips for cheap - you can see the difference with the gradual bends, and when you install them they firmly snap into place and don't rotate around as easily as the stockers.

BTW, these will be available soon - billet case watercooled HTs (can't really call em chinagirls lol). ~15hp on pump gas and they have already broken 80mph on a gas frame test bike:

Do you have the link for the right size circlips?

The stock wrist pin clips are easily fixed to never fail! It's not heat or being lean that causes them to fail, but rather the fact that the little arm or arms allow the wrist pin to push them out or break the arm at high rpm, especially with stock cdi's.removing the arm or arm's and putting a little notch in the pistons pin bore like they are supossed to have makes them never fail again!

I have both the double arm and the no arm versions. Think I'll throw the armless ones in.

would these be an improvement? they come in all sizes. but you need the special pliers. Home Depot has em.
not sure if they r steel tho. maybe not but I'm pretty sure I saw a piston kit offered with them
