Low clearance air filter

On my mongoose paver i had very little clearance to mount the stock filter on my jet black engine. So i used the bottom half of the filter assembly and cut some sheet aluminum to hold a piece of foam on. Works great, I suppose it lets some water in if it rains but i haven't had a single problem with it yet. I cut the intake manifold after the bend. The engine is strong after 2 gallons but there is a lot of soot, or carbon I assume, but i think it's normal.
