I use Mr Gasket Ultra Seal Graphite with a steel mesh center. 10" x 10" sheet costs $15 and I can make 25 gaskets
It can be a little tricky to cut out. Here is a method I use and the exhaust gaskets turn out nice.
I clamp the gasket sheet between 2 pieces of wood a 1/8" piece of panel board on the top and a 3/4" piece of press board on the bottom.
I lay out a grid pattern on the panel board to get as many gaskets as I can out of the sheet.
I use an OEM gasket to trace and I start with the exhaust hole. I cut that out with a hole saw.
I now Trace the OEM gasket mounting holes on the panel board. I drill the mounting holes.
I remove the gasket sheet from the wood and trace the OEM gasket. I cut out the grid pattern of gaskets
I now only cut close to the traced line and finish it off on the disc sander.
I check each gasket for proper fit then I package em all up so they stay nice and safe, Their ready for use.
Hope this info can help someone
Here are step by step pictures of making exhaust gaskets that have a steel mesh center
The steel mesh center is what makes it hard to cut out, but it's the good stuff
Notice how nice they all turned out
