MOAB

I bought this Merlin road racing frame used. The bicycle was built around it by Red River Cyclery in Alexandria, LA. The engine is a custom K1260 top end modified with a Smolik head built by MFL Bikes out of Port Orange, FL.

It's going to take me a while to build this, but I will update this thread when I make progress!

Thin tubed road bikes with narrow tires tend not to be a very good choice of frames or wheels to use. In the motorized bicycle a heavy thick tubed frame with wide tires is a good thing.

My personal advise is sell the Merlin bike to a Spandex Warrior enthusiasts. Then invest into a stretch cruiser frame.

After 13 years on 2 currently active forums, 2 discontinued forums and a discontinued pedal only forum. It isn't just my opinion. I know what frames are prone to failure.

We're all born ignorant

A wise person learns from the mistakes of others

Unfortunately a major failure at high speeds, you may not get a second chance to correct it.

Hey Jerry, have you ever had a chance to get a close look at a hyper cruiser frame from Walmart? I really like how well they are built and I think they have to be one of the sturdiest affordable frames out there. What do you think?

They're an excellent choice. A used Merlin titanium road bike can sell for a $1000+ which leaves you with plenty to get one of the more elaborate stretch cruiser bikes. The OP could even buy a decent set of wheels as well.

You should probably tell the OP how you found out about fenders the hard way lol
Yeah lol. These guys know their stuff. I made the mistake of not listening to literally everyone on here telling me to ditch the fenders on my bike, and... Well read for yourself...

Listen man that a sweet motor and I have the same need for excessive power but that bike IS a death trap. It can't withstand the weight or vibration of that. I've lost down tube's at 50mph b4 but that from fork may even just buckle under load at speed or braking. DON'T be stupid. I mean no offense. It's not the right bike. It's the wrongest bike. You need low and wide. Trust me I do fast bikes. Even the bike in the first pic is brand new and I still question it's safety. It seems solid but who know. That thing you have is MUCH older and less rigid plz think about this choice.
