A trick I learned to keep the gas tank secure with less torque. Less torque on those studs means less chance of causing a leak.

 
I used single sided stick tape , it is thick and rubbery , has a cushion to it , it was about 2 inch wide and cut it with scissors to fit into the channel on bottom of the tank , one piece of each side and butted the pieces right down the middle --- really don't have to put the nuts tight for it to not rotate

Yeah with the inner tube all I did was hand tighten the lock nuts then I gave them a 1/8 turn. That tank is going anywhere. A little bit of friction is all you need.
