Motorized Bike Laws aren't strict in Chicago.

From my own experience, the police don't care about motorized bicycles in the suburbs of Chicago. Most laws in Illinois say anything over 49cc without a pedal assist and over 20mph is considered a moped. I'm 14 without a license or any sort of registration in hand.. even better, I drive around a 212cc motorized bike with turn signals and a front light. The reason I say that the police don't care is because I'm following simple traffic laws, i'm not being stupid when it comes to riding a machine like this. I have a pal I ride with and we have passed dozens of police cars, half of them don't seem to care.. the other half will take a second look but then forget about it.

I wouldnt say they dont care.....but they are lazy and dont want to create unnecessary work and hassle for themselves. But if you give them a reason to, they'll probably surprise you.

Just like if you have something stolen. It's not a priority. there's not enough cops to go canvas the city looking for your stolen item. So it gets literally zero attention. If it shows up somehow in a bust or something and there's a cross reference in the system, you might get it back, but nobody's going to ever go look for it...... They have more important work to do. And when they're not doing that work, they want to sit in a donut shop or sit in their car and browse Facebook on their phone. Or porn.

A similar way, a cop won't write you a ticket for speeding unless their job is currently traffic control and writing speeding tickets. If it's not, they're not out there looking for extra work.

good point. except one time i was riding my trailer and the popo pulled me over and asked for a license like wtf. i gave him a learner permit thankfully i had in my pocket. stupid popo.

Learner permit for motorized pusher trailer and bike?
nah. I built the pusher trailer last year before i got a drivers license so i had a learner permit. He wanted a license, but i didnt have one cause i was a student driver or whatever their called. funny when i got pulled over shortly after my sprocket which i had on the shaft without a keyway, just a the hex screws got lose and so the sprocket would spin freely on the shaft so i had to walk my pusher trailer back home 3 miles.

Even in low gear the pusher trailer was too much to pedal
Yeah pretty much lol... the thing was a beast!!! hahaha... i might have pedaled it for a mile and then got tired and walked it home. It works great, someday ill restore it. I dont know if you remembered but the pusher trailer actually the axle broke in half one time at 30mph, it has 5/8 rod mild steel, and i bought a 1.5" thick axle and accompaying pillow block bearings but never got around to reinstalling it, and then when i was building an ebike, i didnt have any so i had to take the pusher trailer bike and electrify it... Right now its sitting under a deck, but one day, he will be brought back to life...
