You're saying you think the wrist pin bushing gave up?
Yeowtch.
If you do rebuild it, are there better quality/high perf replacement bits available? I don't think your cylinder bore will remain happy if it goes again.
Did the studs for the cyl & head stay fully in the block after the head got a bit of bollocking from the piston crown?
i have already rebuilt it but have not run it yet as i bought a new 66cc. Yes the wrist pin bushing disintegrated ,the head bolts stayed in place . I used the same type of bushing because it was on hand but II will Pull it down and replace it with needle roller bearing.http://www.thatsdax.com/ENGINE_KIT_PARTS_PAGE_2.html
Great news that the cyl/head studs stayed put- and that you caught it before things got too ugly. I've seen some serious mayhem in larger 2-stroke singles from the same cause, failure of the wrist pin or bush, right up to the block fracturing at the stud holes, studs pulled out and perforated cylinder heads. REAL, serious ugliness. Chuck-it-in-the-bin sort of ugly.
By any chance, does the 66cc have a roller bearing on the wrist pin? How about on the big end?
