Hi. I just got a1999 whizzer. After a bit of tinkering I finally got it to start. At first it would not start. I found that I had spark everything else seemed OK so I clean the carburetor. Put the carb back on and it fired right up. The only problem I have now is that it will not run unless the choke is on. Does anybody have any advice for me to keep the bike running without the choke on? I can keep it idling just fine but the choke has to be on. As soon as I try to turn the choke off it will die.

I don't know anything about a whizzer ... But Welcome and somebody will chime in and help you.

Hell if that the way it wants to run leave the choke on.
But you might want to check your fuel filter is it on backwards? Look for the arrow sounds starved for gas maybe obstruction in fuel line dirty filter.
Also check for carb air leak taking too much air forgot what it's called tighten the screw to the carb manifold the pipe sticks out from engine either air leak or fuel block. Good luck.

Running only with choke means you have not enough gas in your mixture. Could be an intake air leak, or a clogged main jet.

Whizzer is the best motorbike you could have. There’s no kit that makes a better all-in-one bike except maybe an ebike.

I cleaned the carb, cleaned the fuel tank and the screen on the fuel valve, bypasses the filter even. No matter where I set the screws on the carb it would not run without choke. One thing I noticed was the fuel filter chamber was never full but I had good flow of fuel. That’s why I bypassed it for a test. Also noticed fuel tank would vent when I opened it. So I checked the valve on it and it seemed to not be stuck closed.

"Also noticed fuel tank would vent when I opened it. " Try running it with the gas cap off and see if any improvement. What you stated leads me to believe the tank had less pressure in it than outside psi.

Thanks I will try that next. Just because the stem moved dose not mean it is not stuck.

Hello, removed the gas cap valve and still runs only with choke on. Anyone have suggestions?

Carb orifices and jets might be partially blocked. If fuel dried up and evaporated in your carb Modern fuel dries to a solid state when it dries. Looks like a chalky substance. Just spraying carb cleaner through the orifices won't get it out. With the jets ya can use a piece of wire but that's not recommended when cleaning a carb. Some say soak your carb in CLR, Osfo or Toilet Bowl cleaner. I've never had to soak a carb and try it. Ya might wan't to just buy a new carb A 20mm or a 22mm would be a good carb for a whizzer.
What size carb do ya have now, a 16, 19, 20, or a 22mm?
Make sure your not starving the motor for fuel and you don't have a intake leak before ya buy anything.
