What sealant did you use on your monster?
That stuff is good stuff I used it in Ford Tristar college 15 yrs ago .OK, use Permatex copper spray
Spray it on both sides of your aluminum gasket.

Cylinder copper head and base gasket (for 8mm bolts) for 66/80cc 2-stroke engine. lot of 5 sets ( 2 copper head gasket 2 thick base gasket).

Ya gotta be careful and not spray it on too thick. Because the over flow will ooze down the cylinder walls and gum up the piston rings.
I don't use it on my M/B. I use a fresh copper gasket
But I do use it on my M/C muffler gasket, to hold it in the Cyl while I put on the exhaust pipe
Permatex copper spray never really dries and stays tacky. Until it gets hot then cold then it's dries like glue

Copper sheet will cut fairly easy with a hefty pair of scissors, it's not that hard. The hardest part is the bolt holes, it's handy to have a hole punch for them.
