My new bike ate my shorts!

Double check that squish gap. I have a suspicion that may have resulted from beating on the piston with blocks, and the squish gap can tell the story, especially since you know what it should be.
I know that you are right- I just dont want you to be.
Im now tossing up whether I buy a piston and rings $25.00 and wait 3 weeks till I see it.
or spend another 185.00 and get another whole kit from a local supplier and have it by the weekend.

A new piston or rings won't fix a bent connecting rod. To make you feel a bit better, that could have also happened when it jammed up from the fabric.

Mind you, I am not saying it is bent, just a possibility. These engine parts aren't exactly high strength stuff.

NOW IT WONT RUN! I have it all back together- Half decent spark, primed with fuel, checked timing, wont even fire. !? its never been actually started. - just had that pop pop - underpants!
Ive only got 50psi compression - thats really sad- cos that's after setting the squish gap to .70mm
Does anyone have a clue?
How much did ya pedal it? Is the choke on? Are you sure the fuel is on? Perhaps you turned it off when you took the engine off. Are you sure the wires are connected, black to black and red/blue to red?

Helpfull- but the issue is low compression. Ill have it out this afternoon and Ill measure up the piston - maybe even get a block of wood and bash it back the other way - hahaha

keep in mind there are a dozen things that can cause low compression. If you re-used the head gasket, it may not be sealing for just one example.

Get the Olyn stroker crank lol
Ive not split a crank in years! I would love to do it- I can feel in all of my kits that the bottom end is rumbley vibratey rubbish. I did plan on on a full bottom end build with top quality bearings and seals once its run in. what will it give me apart from more low end and mid range? Ive not yet got my head around the whole 38mm vs 40mm thing? - does the benefit happen when you raise the ports by 2mm as well?

Well, Inwas talking about the 42mm stroker crank. I have one on order for my chop top Phantom 85. It'll bump it to 90cc lol

I balanced the crank on my China doll and it overcame the rumbley vibratey rubbish feel lol.
