Idk if this makes sense, but try this. Take that flower nut back out. Clutch plate loose. THEN put the bucking bar, bearing, and sprocket cover together. Then you will be able to press on the bucking bar with the clutch lever there on the engine, which will take all the pressure off the flower nut and it will be super easy to screw in. You won't bugger it up any farther.

No, even with the clutch disassembled its the same - it 'should' be just the compression on the big spring but it feels solid. It still all turns freely
