hi everyone - I just found this forum a few days ago, and I'm really looking forward to browsing through here. pretty cool info.
anyway, I have an 80cc Grubee Skyhawk engine that I would like to get running. I mounted the engine on a japanese or maybe chinese frame about 3 years back and ran into some problems. I never could get it running. The bike has been stored until recently. I have a few questions to ask, if someone can help -
I had a look at the engine a while ago and noticed that I had an oil stain ? on the side of the engine. It looks to me like fuel from the tank leaked through the shutoff valve (I had some fuel in the tank thinking that was ok). I figure it might have leaked through the shutoff valve, filled the carb, and then drained down into the engine. My question is - has anyone ever seen this ? What exactly is happening here, and how do I fix it ? Did I just do some major damage ? disassemble and clean, then new gaskets ?
Here's a pic of what I'm seeing. Please excuse the poor lighting. I took the picture in my basement a little while ago, and even though I had more than enough light to work on it, the pictures came out dark. I have to light things up better on my next attempt.
