I got a friends bike . It’s starts runs around the block I get back to my driveway it loses power and dies.So I can start it right away again then runs 2 to 3 seconds dies.So you let it set for a couple hrs . It then will go around the block again same thing dies. Please I’m not sure but thinking magneto or coil. I’ve taken carburetor completely apart and clean it plus tried with a brand new Nt carburetor same. Hope someone has had this problem. It’s so consistent I’m going to check all wires first thing then plug and plug wire too. Plus it doesn’t really run as good as it did two weeks ago. I went riding with him and it sounded really good. Any ideas guys.

sounds like a coil issue, if its bad most of the time it stops sparking when its hot. (super common for snowblowers)

id swap coils and see if you get the same issue

Believe it’s been with that motor when my friend bought it in 2013 it’s really time to change. Lol

I’ve never had a cdi do this, they just stop working completely. I guess I’ve been lucky. This one making you think because it runs bad then dies once warm but it starts right up anytime. I’ll bet marks right. I’ll change it Sunday. Doesn’t matter what slot on needle slide it four strokes at idle on all. Plus he’s got the older speed Nt carburetor with a fuel shut valve on it and 5 slots on needle .

I had a new Mitsubishi 2-stroke engine that did the same thing.

The problem was a vacuum problem in the gas tank. The seals were new and prevented the engine from sucking fuel from the tank.

It happened over 10 years ago. I think I simply loosened the gas cap, until the engine could breathe.

Or did I drill a very small hole in the cap, then later sealed the hole with a screw

Eventually, the seals loosened up a bit, and the fuel system performed normally.

I’ve had gas cap problem it wouldn’t even start until I loosen cap almost off I drilled holes too just in top part small one.On my first bike a mess of yrs ago. But will keep that in mind too. Thanks
