Hello! i recently purchased a 100cc 2 stroke engine for a bicycle. It has been a blast so far! Really enjoying my time with it. After a few days or so it stopped running so i bought an NGK sparky boy for it and it fired right up! A day or so later it stopped running again. For the life of me i couldnt get it to start. (my legs are still rubber from that day) Decided to buy another spark plug and it fired right up again. Rode all day today and im sure you can deduct what happened...

My spark plugs keep getting fouled up with carbon. Why is this occurring? Im running 16:1 ratio as directed by the manual that came with the engine during the break in period. How do i prevent the spark plug from s**tting itself every other day? I am very new to 2 stoke motors. Any tips are appreciated.

20:1 is about as much oil as you can use. A lot of people use 25:1 for break in and 30:1 after.

The Phantoms require 20:1 conventional oil for break in. The rest of them are fine with 25:1 semi synthetic.

At least your not using 40:1 like some do. Oil is cheap compared to new motors and you can't hurt it with too much oil, foul the plug and that's about it.

Also be sure to retorque those 4 nuts on top of the head after each ride, but only when completely cold again so as not to damage the threads on the studs.

They need to be checked after every ride once cold during breakin for at least the first 200 miles or so...You will have compression and leak issues otherwise as well as not running well or die out or no start conditions because of not retaining compression due to being too loose.

thanks. ill adjust oil content on next ride. I attempted to sand off the carbon from plug but it still doesnt wanna run well. The ceramic part is pretty black still. Is plug done for?

The more important reason to torque when cold is if it's hot you can strip the threads in the case. This will cause bad words.

Do you have a wire wheel for a Dremel type rotary tool? That's the best for cleaning plugs, or a wire wheel on a bench grinder.
