New 4stroke Build.

I recently demotored a Schwinn trike I built for my wife. Thought she might enjoy it. Should have known better. Was looking on youtube at bike camper vids when I saw this Briggs bike. I got inspired and had a 24” collecting dust. I like 24s. So came up with this. Finished it yesterday, and have been shaking it down since. Its stretched 10” and sized to fit a Briggs at some point. Its now running on a 142F.

I have a bike trailer I need to dust off and use, so this is built around trailer pulling. Looks mean nothing on this build, but I kinda like it.
So far it works great, shifts well and cruises nicely. Very pleased with the first impressions. The little 142 is well up to the task. Have more to do to it.

Never thought about it. Its a tad over geared with low being 19:1. It takes off fairly well but really needs a first gear ratio
in the low 20s to pull with. I built it out of a chain ring that was a 28/38/48. I had to sacrifice the 48 to make a drive spider out of it. Its running the 38 now. Have another 48 on the way. That will lower it to the point of probably needing 5 of the 6 existing gears. As it is it moves along decently fast in third. That will change with the 48 making a first gear of 23.5:1.

Thanks for your insights Sidewinder!
I have the freewheel in the pic which would have to big a gap. The second speed would be an overdrive. I think the one in the listing would be perfect.
I can get to where I need to be with the existing freewheel and the 48t primary driven. Would prefer to stay with the 38.

Wow SunRace copied me. It's their core I used to build my 7-speed (34-13) freewheel.

Mine: (34,28,24,21,18,15,13)

SunRace: (34,28,24,21,18,16,14)

SunRace 8S: (34,28,24,21,19,17,15,13)

So now you could switch out the (16,14) with the (15,13) for a little more top end.

The reduction range on my bike is 66.79\1 to 16.25\1. My level ground take-off reduction is 36.67\1 using 2(3)

Im pulling away from rest with good authority at 19:1 but it would not pull a trailer easily. With the 34 bottom gear the ratio is 22.8. Not a a stump puller like your bike but here in the coastal flats I can get away with a lot higher ratios.
Besides I only pull single wheel trailers which are generally carrying light bulky things. Sine this is a non pedal bike. It does have to have lower gearing than one with pedal assist.
If needs be I can always lower the primary chain reduction. So far has had no issue getting into the low 30s in 4th.
still taking it easy on the engine which was never fully broken in.

Thanks for your input!

Thanks Darwin!

The bike in the first pic is not mine, its the one that inspired my build. It was built by a Mr Elkins. Out of the pic is a neat little camper he is pulling. He sells plans for many neat things and builds a lot of interesting things!
