I'm new to all this so excuse my lack of knowledge... I will post pictures of the build tomorrow after I get off work when it's light outside.

The chain keeps binding up around the gear in the housing, causing the rear wheel to lock up. It's def. not the chain being too loose (I read that somewhere) because I shortened it more and now it's hard to get the master link on. Perhaps it's the chain path? The rear sprocket being out of alignment?

I know it'll be easier to diagnose if I post pictures, so I will get them up asap.

Thanks in advance for your time, appreciate it.

It sounds like the chain is misaligned. The sprocket on the wheel and the engine need to be parallel for a good alignment, it can be checked with a straight edge. If you have four points of contact it is aligned, if not you should be able to see how to fix it based on where you don't have contact. I can scan my power transmission textbook if you'd like

Thank you all for the replies. The sprocket is def. not aligned properly, as you can see in the picture. I ordered a sprocket adapter so I don't have to use the rag joint, hopefully that will take care of that issue. From the pictures, can you notice any other issues, with chain alignment or otherwise?

It could be a bad sprocket or chain. You have to pull the sprocket off and roll it in the chain to see if it tries to skip a tooth.
I'm going to try a new sprocket adapter, instead of the rag joint. It's def. not aligned properly. I have posted photos , if you can spot anything else I need to clean up w/ the alignment or otherwise.

The sprocket is def. not aligned properly. I have order a sprocket adapter so I don't have to mess around w/ the rag joint any longer. Hopefully that helps that. I have posted pictures, if you can spot anything else I need to clean up with the alignment or otherwise.
