New build runs but sluggish and sounds weird..

Here’s the plug that’s been used last few rides…looks ok?? it’s a NGK BR6HS-10. What are your thoughts on the plug I’m using? I’m kinda lost on what’s best..

Update: tried different CDI last night no difference. Still lack of power, strange intermittent deep exhaust sound and jerky acceleration..going to try to start early tonight so I can record engine sound..
That's acceptable color on that plug. It could be a lot better. It sounds like your 4 stroking, what position is the clip for the carb needle on?

That’s good to know…I just put the HP carburetor on it so no needle adjustment…I was going to but then realized it’s different from the original in that way..

I have a couple of those here, I could never get one dialed in right. At least with an NT or Bofeng you can solder and redrill the jet if need be.

I wonder if I should go back…but the problem didn’t change one carburetor to another…so I figure it’s not carburetor but food for thought..thank you!

Most new builds need to be worked at for a bit before they really start to kick. Every now and then you will encounter one that wants to go, but most have one little quirk that keeps them from running perfect. The mag key could be bent, broken or missing, spark plug boot with a big crack, even no connector inside the boot, carb float with a crack, bent or too fat of a needle, and on and on.

I’m glad I joined this group…your words in these builds and what to expect really helps me calm down and just keep at it.. truth is, every time I get focused on what could be wrong I find something that IS wrong or needs to be corrected..(last night it was loose sprocket nuts and leaky gas tank shut off..didn’t solve my main problem but it makes me think I’ll eventually get there..🙏
