Alright, so I've recently started running this new case reed motor here with a 21mm OKO carb (all stock jetting). Current mix is 40:1....
I've already fiddled with the air mixture screw on it to where I've got good idle and clean throttle response when I blip it. However, every time that I try to take off and crack the throttle 1/4 of WOT, the motor instantly dies. However, if I just BARELY turn the throttle (like, maybe 1/6 of WOT) while I engage the clutch, it'll take off no problem. Rides real well, too.
I'm not sure if this is a case of the motor getting too much gas, wrong air mixture screw setting or what... two other motors that I had never had this problem, though they were just stock engines or were your standard ported cylinder ones with the stock carbs on them.
So...what am I to do here? I'm not sure where to start...
